Veterans All Deserve Our Thanks

Last week one of my employees asked me if the office was closed for Veteran’s Day. I asked her if she or her immediate family had served in this country’s military. It was a rhetorical question, because neither she nor one of my other employees, both first generation Americans, had family members who served. However, they both, as do I, enjoy the freedoms that throughout our country’s history, our service members helped and continue to help preserve.
Over the years as a family law attorney, I have had the privilege of representing clients who served in all branches of the military service, from fighter pilots in the Marines and Air Force, to submarine captains in the Navy, from infantry men in the Army to helicopter rescue pilots in the Coast Guard. I especially remember one gentleman in the Army who was stationed in Japan. I told him I’d forget about his final bill if he’d send me a Japanese doll for my then baby daughter. Weeks later a beautiful, traditionally clad, glass encased doll arrived. His final invoice never did. It was the least I could do.
So I want to take a moment to honor these past and present veteran clients, and thank you for all that you have done for our country. I only hope I served you as well as you served all of us.

Oh, and yes, we are open on Monday!
