Countless questions face separating and divorcing couples, but perhaps the most important questions involve :
- How will both parents remain important influences in their children’s lives into the future as they had in the past.
- How do the parties divide up their property
- How will the parties manage financially in separate households
- How are the expenses for the children handled
- How do we develop a regular and holiday time-sharing schedule
Each of these questions must be resolved before a divorce or other family law matter is resolved. So now, at the beginning, you have a choice. As I have told clients for over 20 years….you can mediate and work toward a resolution together and send your kids to college or you can both hire separate lawyers and choose to fight over everything, and send your attorneys’ kids to college.
Divorce, and indeed all family law related litigation is an expensive and lengthy process. What starts as a difficult process between two people, with emotions ranging from shock to hurt and from anger to retribution, engaging in the litigation process may, in many instances turns a bad situation into a nightmare. With both parties hiring a family law attorney to represent their respective “interests,” participants in the process sign on to all the procedural matters, the evidentiary restrictions, the potential countless court hearings and depositions, and the very real possibility that one or both of the attorneys approach your case with a “take no prisoners” attitude.
There is an alternative. We offer the following mediation services and additional services as needed, to help resolve your family law case in a caring environment and through a cost effective method.
